This time I will share with you the 8 steps to create a light burst effect in Photoshop.
A burst gives arresting look as it denotes extreme emotions and blaring effect. Steps are easy and do not require drawing skills since Photoshop will do the work for you.
Step 1
Create a new canvass with 500pixels x 500 pixels with Black background color.
Step 2
Make another layer and create rectangle with the use of Rectangular Marquee Tool. Set the foreground color into white and fill it by pressing Alt-DEL (Windows) or Option-DEL (Mac).
Step 3
Go to Filter> Stylize>Wind and do the settings below.

Step 4
Delete the solid white part using the Rectangular Marquee Tool. Then, press Ctrl T (Windows) or Command-T (Mac) to transform.

Step 5
Go to Image>Rotate Canvass>90 degrees CCW

Step 6
Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates. Tick on Rectangular to Polar.

Step 7
Then to Filter>Blur>Motion Blur. Do the setting shown below.

Step 8
Pick the Elliptical Marque Tool to make a circle in the middle. Select Modify>Feather then fill it.
You can also try different background colors. Experiment and have fun!

| I couldn’t help but giggle as I remember some of the funny moments from the NAG general assembly last July. Everybody had a good time, especially me, as I video the spoofs and award-winning poses of our NAG brothers. But one of the portions that popped in my head was the surprise birthday celebration of our Tatay Rene. I saw tatay’s joy when he saw everybody in the gallery cheerfully sang him a birthday song. I stretched my neck as far as I can just to see the surprise gift covered with brown wrapping paper. In the back of my mind, I thought that it was another usual birthday card with usual birthday messages….but alas! It was a beautifully framed picture of tatay ( I wish I had one ). |

| He just meekly replied with a smile, but I felt that deep inside, he was very happy. In that instant, I was kind of teary but I don't want to steal the show..it was his moment.. |

I was really touched (as if I was the celebrant) because I know that each of us in the room was greatly influenced by this man. He’s the “jack-of-all-trades” in the group because he has been helping us with carpentry, painting, lettering, electrical installations…everything… oh…uhmm except skirting. He may be poker-faced at times, as if he’s angry or something, but we already got used to that. What he does best as a good Tatay to all of us, is to make sure that in all the tasks we carry out, we do them in faith. I’m pretty sure, the rest of the August celebrants Bro Vic, Lester, Vespher , Randy Amador and Sis Angel will be all smiling…imagining what “surprise” gifts they would be receiving. No false hopes for you guys … but a warm greeting from your AG family… Happy Birthday in Christ! |

The KNC SHOW, the only Bible-based kiddie program produced in the Philippines today, has been airing on UNTV for more than four years now. Everyday at 4:00 – 4:30 PM, kids get to hear the WORDS of GOD and learn valuable lessons to guide them throughout their childhood. |

| |
| Daily, their segment called "Bible Story", gives young viewers a chance to know more about different events and characters in the BIBLE. This is very timely, since most children these days know almost nothing about the great stories from the BIBLE. They may know more about Naruto and Sponge Bob but know nothing about Samson or Gideon. |

Since kids today find more interest in things which are not so important, bringing young children closer to GOD becomes a bit more of a challenge. But what if kids started to see BIBLE STORIES getting animated better than "Superbook" or "The Flying House"? Kids would definitely love BIBLE STORIES in high quality animation, wouldn't they? Well, the said segment has made one-step closer to that dream by starting to show animated clips of Samson's battle with a lion last May 4, 2009. The animation was very simple, but it definitely looks more interesting to see Samson move his arms and mouth than just seeing still images. Although, this is just a tiny step towards a tedious and costly process of achieving the goal, we all know that with GOD's help, more improvements could be made. Guided by what was written in Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." we should never stop finding better and creative ways to bring more kids closer to GOD. |

Some people would start clicking their cameras a few hundred times without even capturing the shot that they really like. Others may think that they can only take great photos with a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera. Having an expensive and a high quality equipment is really an advantage but why get intimidated if you only have a 3.2 mega pixel point-and-shoot camera? Others may keep taking a few more pictures but they all end up in frustration. |
 |
| |
| Can't wait to take great pictures yourself but you just don't know where and how to start? Wait up, before you take your next shot! Here are some tips that can help you. For starters, whether you have a DSLR or a 3.2 mega pixel point-and-shoot camera, either way you could still work wonders only if you would begin with the basics of photography. Do not neglect the basics. You won't become a great photographer in a blink of an eye. As you start, you may enroll in a class, take workshops, or better yet, buy and learn from photography books. (Some can be bought at a very cheap price, so keep an eye on book sales). Know what aperture, shutter speed and ISO (speed) are for. Understanding these terms really gives you the confidence in your shots. Hold your camera as comfortably as you can and make sure to develop a steady hand. Be reminded that good timing is inevitable. Those buttons in your camera wouldn't be there for no reason, so it is important to know each of their functions by heart. Take note of your camera's limits and capabilities in order make the most out of it. Read the manual. (Although most of us are guilty trying to avoid this part, just do not forget to carefully study the manual before you decide to throw it away). Put these things in practice and as you progress, learn from constructive criticisms and start to learn new techniques while incorporating your artistic side in each shot. It really takes lots of time and practice but keep in mind that all your hard work would eventually pay off if you have determination |

To sum it up, here are some pieces of good advice from Brother Hermes Singson, a photographer who also wants to share his knowledge to people who have the same passion for photography.
"Basically, to take good photographs does not depend so much on the camera you use; it depends more with you on how well you will use what you know and what you have learned. So have patience, practice and never stop learning." HMS
He is definitely right. You do not become a pro at an instant; it's all about the experience and the continuous learning process. We should know the basics, the foundation of good photography. Be open to all good advice and suggestions you get from other people and don't take the credit all to yourself. Real achievement comes when you realize that you owe everything to GOD who supplies your very strength, talents and abilities. |
